This Sunday, November 11, First Church will participate in Neighbors in Need (NIN), an annual offering to support the UCC’s ministries of justice and compassion throughout the US.
Two-thirds of this offering, which is collected by UCC churches nationwide, is used by the UCC’s Justice and Witness Ministries to fund a wide array of local and national justice initiatives, advocacy efforts and direct service projects through grants. NIN grants are awarded to UCC churches and organizations doing justice work in their communities. This year, special consideration will be given to projects focusing on serving our immigrant neighbors and communities.
One-third of the offering supports the UCC’s Council for American Indian Ministries (CAIM), which supports 20 UCC congregations on tribal reservations. CAIM also serves as a resource for more than 1,000 individuals from dozens of other tribes and nations who are members of other UCC congregations in the US.
Our support, along with the support of our UCC neighbors around the country, will help make these activities possible.
