Starting Saturday, January 19, 2019, First Church member Nancy DeNiro will offer another 9-week series of 3-hour classes on Mindful Self-Compassion (MSC). She will be joined by her co-teacher David Fredrickson, a retired psychologist, trained in MSC, active at Glide Memorial in San Francisco.
Mindful Self-Compassion is an empirically tested training that provides emotional strength and resilience, allowing us to relate wholeheartedly to others, and to be authentically ourselves. Research shows that self-compassion is strongly associated with emotional well-being, less anxiety, depression, and stress, maintenance of healthy habits such as diet and exercise, satisfying personal relationships, and the prevention of caregiver burnout. And, it’s easier than you think.
If you’re seeking more emotional strength and resilience for these challenging times, please join Nancy and David on nine consecutive Saturdays, 9 am to noon, in Loper Chapel, for meditations, short talks, experiential exercises, group discussion, and home practice. No previous experience with mindfulness or meditation is required.
Register no later than Saturday, January 12, by emailing Nancy at firstname.lastname@example.org. Their limit is 35 participants.
The price is $300 (for 27 hours, guided by two MSC trained teachers) is set intentionally low, as a ministry of compassion, by First Church. Additional donations will allow us to offer partial scholarships to those with limited means.
