This year's Oakland Pride Festival in on Sunday, September 9, 2018. First Church will once again be marching in the parade, to share our welcoming and inclusive spirit.
Want to participate? People of all ages are welcome, and Oakland Pride is actually one of the most kid-friendly Pride Festivals in the country because it's easy to get to, the parade is short, and it's not as crowded as bigger festivals.
Meet Phil Porter at the InterPlay building in downtown Oakland (505 23rd Street at Telegraph Ave) at 9:45 am, to walk to the parade staging area (.6 of a mile). Parking should be available in that neighborhood. Call Phil (510/338-8905) to connect if you have any trouble finding the group. Or take BART to 12th Street and meet the contingent on 14th St.
Wear your First Church Motley Pew T-shirt!
The parade assembles on 14th St. near Broadway and then marches down Broadway to 20th St., ending right by one of the entrances to the Festival. The festival has food, music, and a special Children's Garden with rides, face painting, and more! Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for children to Festival
You can also join the group at the Festival after church.
