San Francisco Pride is nearly upon us! Our historic Queer-affirming high holiday! We have two opportunities to show up and show ourselves as an LGBT-embracing community as homophobia experiences an ugly resurgence elsewhere in Christendom.
This year, to honor our 24 years of being an Open and Affirming church, and to make sure East Bay neighbors looking for a church like ours know who and where we are, we will participate fully in San Francisco Pride celebration.
On Friday, June 22 for Trans Day, we will march in the parade so folks know of our awesome trans-affirming faith community in the East Bay! Meet at 5:30 pm in Dolores Park at Dolores and 18th, directly across from Dolores Park Cafe. If you can't find us, text Molly at 617-462-7475.
And on Sunday, June 24, we will carry our banner and march in the main Pride Parade with United in Faith, an umbrella group of queer-friendly communities of faith. Want to wield a hand drum? Be part of a choreographed stroller flash mob? Just show up in your best rainbow suspenders and smile the whole way to show the throngs what Jesus would be doing if he were here in 2018. Meet at Spear Street between Howard & Folsom and look for us behind the United in Spirit banner. Gather at 10:30 am, communion 11:15 am, late arrivals by 11:45 am, start marching at 12:30 pm. Times are approximate.
RSVP for either event or both by responding to this Doodle poll!
We will also celebrate Pride at church that Sunday morning as well, including creating a rainbow balloon installation outside the church. Let Rachel Bauman know if you can help early before church.
