The First Church Festival Chorus and Orchestra will perform several works by Ralph Vaughan Williams, including his eloquent plea for peace, the choral cantata "Dona nobis pacem," written in 1936 amid growing fear that global war would soon break out again. The concert will take place on Friday, January 25, 2019 at 8 pm in the First Church Sanctuary.
Angela Arnold (soprano) and Billy Lawley (baritone) will sing the solos.
Derek Tam will conduct the First Church Festival Chorus, a 100-member ensemble drawn from various Bay Area choruses. To participate in the chorus, please sign up here.
This beautiful program will also feature Vaughan Williams' "Five Variants of Dives and Lazarus", as well as his "Serenade to Music" a piece that Sergei Rachmaninoff said had moved him like no other.
