Rev. Sophia DeWitt's Sermon on Disability Empowerment Sunday

Rev. Sophia DeWitt was our guest preacher on Disability Empowerment Sunday, during the 10 am worship service on October 14, 2018. She preached a powerful sermon called “The Gratefulness of Exiles."

Sophia is currently the Program Director at EBHO (East Bay Housing Organizations) and is a long-time friend at First Church. Before joining the EBHO staff, she served at Fresno Interdenominational Refugee Ministries (FIRM, Inc.) for 11 1/2 years directing and designing multiple programs to serve and empower refugees of all generations, from early childhood to elder programs, with a special focus on housing justice and health access.

She recently helped First Church in its deliberations about endorsing two affordable housing propositions on this year's state ballot and is a frequent worshipper at First Church.
