This Lent—a time traditionally given over to self-reflection and prayer—our community will embark on an exciting spiritual journey to envision our church’s future.
Beginning on February 3, you are invited to sign up for any of roughly a dozen Visioning Circles, each of which will meet four times in March to work through a discussion curriculum.
Most circles will gather following the morning worship service on March 10, 17, 24 and 31. Sessions likely will run from 11:30 am to 1 pm with childcare provided.
Other circles will gather at the church on weekdays, in the evening or in private homes. It will be a wonderful way to make new friends, deepen old friendships and create space for God to enter.
All the activity will culminate in “Super Sunday” on April 7 during which we will take all we’ve learned and create a coherent picture of our path forward. We hope the visioning will help guide our activities and focus our energies during the next three to five years. Individually, we are strong. Together, we are a mighty force.
The visioning process is being coordinated by the church’s Long-Range Planning Committee, church staff and ministers.
We hope everyone—new and long-time members, non-members and people of all ages—will make participation a top priority. Please consider this an important Lenten practice in which we go deep and reflect on what the church means to us and how we can “magnify the longings of Jesus” to better care for each other and do good in the world. We believe the visioning process will put us in a place of gratitude and hopefulness as we move from Palm Sunday, through Holy Week, and arrive at a joyous Easter celebration on Sunday, April 21.
