As you may have noticed, there are new speakers in the Sanctuary! The installation, which includes six front-hanging speakers, six speakers underneath the chancel steps, and two speakers aimed at the balcony, was installed in early January by Meyer Sound Laboratories, Berkeley's world-renowned audio firm.
The new system is part of ongoing efforts to improve the quality and comprehension of amplified sound in the Sanctuary while preserving the acoustic qualities that make our Sanctuary an essential concert venue in the Bay Area. The installation was made possible by three memorial bequests specifically earmarked for sound and capital improvements.
We hope that these efforts will not only make our worship services more accessible, but also enhance the rental desirability of the Sanctuary for lectures and spoken events. In the coming months, we will continue to fine-tune the system and explore ways to enhance sound access for the hearing impaired.
