Sermon

In a week that saw the ramping up of tension and the threat of military and even nuclear response between the US and North Korea, and demonstrations by white supremacists in Charlottesville, Virginia, Senior Minister Molly Baskette found it hard to create a sermon about God’s love as a solution. In the scripture story, Jesus has the remind the disciples again that there will be enough—in this case, bread (Mark 8:14-21). He has to reassure them that scarcity is a myth. He has to call them to be open-hearted and vulnerable, which may also be the only way that we can respond to the challenges we face in the world.
