In the final sermon in the “Summer of Love” series, Senior Minister Molly Baskette explores love and guilt. Guilt can be a powerful force. It is a sign that we have done wrong or failed to do right. It may provide the impulse to make things right. But it can also paralyze us and may not last as a motivator. Love on the other hand “plays the long game.” Racism and other isms remain unresolved. White liberal guilt may spur us into action, but using our love for those who are suffering or afraid can be a much stronger inspiration to do the right thing.
