Sermon

Senior Minister Molly Baskette recounts some of the challenges that she has faced in the last few weeks, including the death of her brother Jesse in the Philippines and her children getting whooping cough. In a play on an old joke, she felt like a “frayed knot.” And yet the time has been an opportunity to grasp onto the ropes of faith that God has thrown to her, both mystically and practically, including the support of the congregation. She affirms the faith that comes from struggle and endurance and that we aren’t in this alone. And perhaps, as Dr. King suggested, shared suffering is what we need to change the world.
