Dublin Women’s Prison Survivors Speak Out

Sat., Sept. 7, 7 to 8 pm
First Unitarian Church of Oakland, 685 14th St., Oakland, CA

— Willem VandeKamp, First Church Liaison to Interfaith Coalition for Justice in Jails (ICJJ)

As reported earlier this year, the Bureau of Prisons abruptly closed the federal women’s prison in Dublin in April and transferred the more than 600 women imprisoned there to prisons all over the country. This came after years of abuse by prison staff.  Eight survivors of staff sexual abuse and retaliation filed a lawsuit.  In an event sponsored by the Dublin Prison Solidarity Coalition, formerly incarcerated women will tell their stories, and you will hear more about the lawsuit.  Please join us.
