Join us Jan. 12 for a Learning Hour led by Renea Lynn, Psy.D., to explore four distinct and pervasive dynamics embedded in high control religions. These dynamics (1. control, 2. dismissiveness, 3. othering, & 4. rejection) lead to potential trauma and the need to recover. Participants will be able to recognize what is being controlled, dismissed, othered, and rejected as well as what tactics are used to accomplish such dynamics. We will look briefly at how high control religions can traumatically impact individuals, how religious trauma shows up in the body, and in interactions with others. Finally, we will look at various options for recovery.
