Katia K. (she, her) Katia grew up in the Bay Area but lived in Western Massachusetts for nine years before moving back to the Bay a couple of years ago. Her partner is Becky S., and as a fun fact, the couple met at church! She currently works at a refugee resettlement agency and she loves to swim, hike, and bake.
Becky S. (she, her) Becky is originally from Freeport, Maine, home of the L. L. Bean boot. She now lives in Berkeley with her partner Katia and their cuddly cat Hadley. She is an environmental scientist specializing in climate change. In her free time she loves doing art, reading by a cozy fire, and eating Katia’s baked goods.
Leo T. (he, him) Leo grew up in Taiwan and came to the US for higher education. The past 25 years, he has worked on drug development and directly contributed to the approvals of two drugs for cancer treatment. His work has helped patients and their families. As a member of this church, he hopes to have more direct and face-to-face experience to humbly serve people in need.
Frankie M. (she, her) Frankie is a singer/songwriter from Tanzania. She loves pets, she’s a foodie, and loves to sing and dance.
John B. (he, him) John writes: “I’m married and have two children and a retired shipyard welder and computer programmer. I’ve been part of Oakland Ceasefire for over 10 years and a member of Faith in Action East Bay. I like hiking, paleontology, and play the violin. I’m also trying to learn Spanish with limited success.”
Bekah M. (she, her) Bekah is originally from Ohio and is currently a first year M.Div. student at Pacific Lutheran Theological Seminary. She has a background in Neuroscience and research and has recently been affirmed in her calling to chaplaincy. She loves crocheting, hiking, camping with MC and the dogs, and reading. She is so happy to have been welcomed into FCCB with open arms and looks forward to deepening her spiritual journey here.
MC M. (she, her) MC is originally from Wisconsin and just returned to Berkeley in May after having previously lived in the Bay Area from 2017-2020. She has a journalism degree from Ohio University and recently graduated with her Masters of Divinity from Boston University. She is a Lutheran candidate for ordination in the ELCA but has found a spiritual home at FCCB with her wife Bekah. She currently serves as the Communications & Events Coordinator at Pacific Lutheran Theological Seminary and goes home to the dogs. She is most excited about joining a community that so strongly models her values for liberation and justice for all.
