The Blue Fire Committee is looking forward to presenting the latest plans for the replacement of Pilgrim Hall on Sunday during the Learning Hour. The committee has been working with our architects to prepare plans for submission to the City of Berkeley that will move us through the approval process to commence construction, currently anticipated to begin in spring 2022.
The committee is excited to share the latest with the congregation, which will include floor plans, renderings of interior and exterior and the timeline for all the steps that will bring us to project completion.
We have been on a long journey together since the September 2016 fire, including extensive mediation with the insurance company, imagining possibilities through a congregational visioning exercise, multiple refinements to match our budget with our needs for a new building, and the congregational vote last year to move ahead with the rough concept that has been taking shape over these past few months. It has been a long process, but a satisfying one as we work to imagine and address the needs of our congregation in the 21st century.
