The votes are in! An amazing 93% of submitted votes support our church moving forward with the construction of a new community building on the site of Pilgrim Hall and taking the next steps to find a partner to develop affordable housing on the northwest part of our campus! The Blue Fire committee is working with our architects to refine the drawings for the new community building, moving over the next few months toward a submission for building permits. We will share our progress as we move deeper into the design phase.
The Church Council will also be forming a new committee to explore affordable housing options and work to identify developers to help make that project a reality, helping address the acute need for affordable rental housing in Berkeley and provide the church with a source of income to support our long term sustainability.
