Unitarian Universalist Church of Berkeley, 1 Lawson Rd, Kensington
For Earth Week, the First Church Green Team recommends viewing the new film, The Letter: A Message for Our Earth, Sat., April 27, 7 pm at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Berkeley (UUCB). This film is a new documentary about how spiritual values call us to take action on the planetary crisis. It tells the story of a journey to Rome of frontline leaders to discuss the encyclical letter Laudato Si’ with Pope Francis. The exclusive dialogue with the Pope, included in the film, offers a revealing insight into the personal history of Pope Francis and stories never seen since he became the Bishop of Rome. The Laudato Si’, the “encyclical letter”– a short book that popes write – encourages us to see how “everything is connected.” The way we treat the Earth, our common home, is a reflection of how we treat each other. Caring for each other means caring for the home we share.
Admission is free, but donations are welcome. Any funds raised will go to UUCB’s Climate Justice Committee.
