On Sat., March 22, 35 First Church members currently serving on the church’s council, its various ministries, and standing committees came together for a fun and energizing afternoon of community building and planning. We had the chance to get to know each other, to learn more about the other ministries and committees’ areas of work, and to connect to each other and our collective purpose by sharing what we love about this congregation and its ministry.
Moderator Margaret Kavanaugh-Lynch and Rev. Kelly led us in a group visioning session (including some improv—see photo!) to share our aspirations about how the church can grow and thrive in the coming years. Committees and ministries also had the chance to spend time in breakout sessions to talk about how they want to work together this year and what they want to focus on in their efforts.
We had a wonderful time connecting and dreaming together over coffee and many snacks. If you are not currently serving on a ministry or committee but want to be involved in shaping this church’s future (improv is optional!), look out for an invitation to the upcoming visioning session with the Long-Range Planning Committee in early summer.
