Guest Preacher: Natalie Owens-Pike

Sun., May 7, 10 am

On Sun., May 7 we will be blessed by the effervescent spirit and great preaching of Natalie Owens-Pike! Natalie is a third-year M. Div. student at Andover Newton at Yale Divinity School (YDS). Rev. Molly has been matched with a graduating YDS student each of the last three years as part of a mentoring program for graduates launching careers in pastoral ministry. Natalie is going to spend the whole weekend with us as an immersion into our way of doing and being church. She is particularly interested in the ministry of stewardship, and will lead a Learning Hour after worship on the topic “Sharing our Money Stories: What Inspires Us, What Obstructs Us, How Money Limits and Transforms our Lives.” You’re going to love our time with Natalie as much as Molly has enjoyed mentoring her.

Natalie (she/her/nop) is originally from Minneapolis, where she and her spouse Alex lived until moving to New Haven in 2020. A first career teacher and non-profit Executive Director in Minneapolis, she is now following the spirit into ministry in the UCC after completing an M.Div degree this month. She is passionate about how justice and community power can be made through communities of people of faith. Joy and play are at the center of her ministry because they sustain us in our fights for justice. She loves to sing, canoe and swim, and look for birds on hikes with friends! She was raised Unitarian Universalist, so she brings fresh energy to the task of understanding all the knots Jesus left for us to untangle.
