Home by Another Way: 2022 Easter Offering for Youth Spirit Artworks

Throughout Lent we have reflected on the theme of “Home by Another Way.” The word “home” is a rich one, which can bring up cozy memories, memories of conflict, or a sense of heritage. For our Easter offering, we focus on that most literal interpretation: a safe shelter from the elements. Youth Spirit Artworks (YSA) opened its first-in-nation, youth-initiated Tiny House Empowerment Village a year ago this Easter season, and they are grateful for the many ways our congregation has participated in their work. This year’s offering focuses on the youth themselves, who struggle to move their lives forward amidst the trauma associated with housing insecurity. To thrive, youth need to know they are supported by a trustworthy, loving community. Your offering will enable YSA to reward youth as they achieve their individual goals and dreams. An Easter Fund will be created, with specific reward parameters, to help celebrate their victories, large and small.

We accept Jesus’s call to serve him by serving others – the hungry, the homeless, the refugee and immigrant, the oppressed. Please give generously this Easter by donating online at https://onrealm.org/fccb/Give (log in, click “Giving,” then the blue +Give button, then choose “Easter Offering” from the “Fund” dropdown menu). You may also write a check to First Church Berkeley, add “Easter Offering” in the memo line, and mail to: First Church Berkeley, 2330 Durant Ave., Berkeley, CA 94704. All non-pledge offerings received Easter Sun., April 17, will be contributed to this organization. Thank you for your generous support!
