First Church’s Justice & Service Ministry is pleased to announce that our congregation has joined the Interfaith Coalition for Justice in our Jails (ICJJ). ICJJ’s recent focus is to stop the dying in the Alameda county jail and to demand that family members are informed of their loved one’s death within 24 hours. ICJJ is part of the Care First – Jails Last Coalition that focuses on care and treatment in the community instead of incarceration. ICJJ had a great start at Service as Worship last Sunday (8/7/2022) where 70 postcards were written by over a dozen First Church community members. ICJJ is glad to be part of the First Church family!
