Person's forehead with a black colored cross for Ash Wednesday

Mardi Gras and Ash Wednesday

At 5:30 pm on Tues., March 1, we’ll have a family-friendly Mardi Gras festival outside on the lawn—we’ll eat delicious pancakes and lots of toppings, we’ll sing, and we’ll “bury the Alleluias” for the season of Lent. Join us for delicious treats and fun company!

The next day, we’ll have three options to mark Ash Wednesday—join us for one or all. First is an online service at noon on Zoom.  Small, intimate, and reflective, this is an opportunity to prepare yourself for the season with depth and heart.

Second is Ashes to Go—Rev. Molly and Rev. Kelly will be on the Cal campus in Sproul Plaza near the Bancroft edge giving ashes and blessings from 1:30-2:30 pm.  Remember you are dust, made of earth—no more, no less, and as infinitely worthy as the earth itself.

Third is the in-person service at 7 pm on the Chancel, the raised part at the front of the sanctuary.  We’ll sing together, remember our mortality and our flaws, and hope together for a world made new.
