You are invited to a Night of Prayer for the re-opening of the Berkeley Public Schools on Monday March 22, 2021, from 7 to 8.15 PM, via Zoom. Students and Faculty will return to in-person learning on March 29. First Church is joining otherChristian faith communities for this prayer gathering. This event was initiated by Berkeley Public School board member Laura Babitt and Rev. Angela Jernigan of the Free Spirit Worship Center, and other Christian communities got involved. Topics for prayer that night are: The leadership of schools in the Berkeley Unified School District. The mental health and relationships of students, teachers, and parents, as they deal with the inequities of the past year, and face the fears of the transition from screens to in-person learning. The need for inclusion, justice, and love for the children who are vulnerable and left behind, especially due to racism, poverty, and homelessness. The First Church Prayer Ministry Team and the Family, Children, and Youth Ministry are representing our congregation in this event. For questions, contact [email protected].
