Our season finale features what promises to be an unforgettable performance of Dietrich Buxtehude’s Membra Jesu nostri, a remarkable meditation on the body of the crucified Christ. A work of deep profundity, this collection of seven cantatas employs relatively limited vocal and instrumental forces—for the most part, five voice parts, two violins and basso continuo—to create an atmosphere of dramatic exultation.
