Our efforts to bring affordable housing to a portion of our parking lot took an important step forward this week as EBALDC, our nonprofit development partner, solicited proposals from architecture firms to design the project. Members of the Affordable Housing Team will participate in the interview process in June, helping select a firm that can combine the needs of housing development with the historic nature of our church campus.
This selection process signals the beginning of a years long process to design, finance, and construct the affordable housing project on the northwest corner of our campus. This project will bring needed affordable units to central Berkeley, fulfilling an important community need, while also providing the church with a source of financial support for our mission.
We look forward to sharing progress updates later this summer, along with a timeline for the important milestones along the way.
