CROP Walk: Invitation to Walk with Your Families, Roommates, Pets in Solidarity with Church World Services

This Saturday, May 9, 12 pm

You are invited to join your church staff this Saturday for a walk all together/apart in celebration of Church World Service and all the organizations it supports through fundraisers like the CROP Walk!

Join us in taking a walk on Saturday at 12 noon around your neighborhood with your family, pets or roommates. Pray for the nonprofits locally and globally who walk “alongside vulnerable, rural, indigenous, poor and marginalized communities in their daily struggle to change the equation. CWS is making sure that they have the resources, information and opportunity they need to overcome scarcity and become more adaptive, resilient and prosperous.

Thanks to donors, families are finding new ways to earn income. Parents are feeding their children healthy meals and can afford school fees. Mothers have better access to clean, safe water, and communities have improved food security and sanitation.” (Church World Service Annual Report 2019)

Email selfies during your walk to Zach Miley at [email protected] to be included in a slideshow during the Offertory at worship on Sunday, our last Sunday of our virtual CROP Walk plate offering.

And, in case you missed it last Sunday, watch our own Lauren Jewett give the Invitation to the Offering as the Program Director at Youth Spirit Artworks, one of the CROP Walk local nonprofit recipients:

“Today’s offering will again go to the Berkeley CROP Walk and the organizations it supports. Our community cares deeply about the life saving and transformative work of CWS in communities around the world and the work of the Berkeley Food Pantry, Dorothy Day House, and Youth Spirit Artworks locally. Each of these organizations continues to support people experiencing food and housing insecurities during the COVID-19 pandemic. As more and more people lose their jobs and income, these organizations need our support more than ever. Two youth from YSA will now introduce you to the work of YSA.”
