Sat., Aug. 26, 2023, 8:30 am
First Church Berkeley’s Ministry of Justice and Service is proud to announce our first Habitat for Humanity workday Sat., Aug. 26. We will be among other churches and volunteers working with a special community housing project in Walnut Creek – Esperanza Place. This project has been carefully crafted to provide affordable housing within a structure that gives future homeowners a chance to put in “sweat equity” side-by-side with volunteers from groups that have a passion for creating “first home” opportunities. Tasks available will vary depending upon project stage but might include painting, fence-building, and light construction. Habitat staff in the East Bay/Silicon Valley office are pro’s at providing supervision and a structured, safe work environment.
We anticipate a group of perhaps 10 to 15 volunteers who will begin work on that Saturday about 8:30 AM and conclude in the afternoon. We will pool transportation to the site which is close to the Pleasant Hill Bart station. Habitat provides all tools and safety equipment.
