Our Support of the Berkeley Food Pantry

First Church Berkeley has been in a relationship with the Berkeley Food Pantry (BFP) for more than 25 years. In that time, we have unloaded trucks, written grants, repackaged fruits and vegetables, assisted pantry guests, and donated food and funds. We support BFP because they provide a nutritious, emergency bag of groceries for 9 meals, to our neighbors in need. The BFP averages 35 tons of good food each MONTH to folks in north Berkeley and south Albany.

We choose to donate popular items that the BFP might not get from other sources: low-sugar, smooth peanut butter in plastic jars and breakfast cereal with at least 40% Daily Value of iron. Please consider putting either or both of these items on your grocery list and bring them to our donation table in the Hall of Entrance. Birtukan Beyenssa delivers our donations to the Pantry weekly.

Many thanks to those who already donate peanut butter, cereal, and/or clean grocery bags (heavy duty plastic or paper with handles.) Questions? please see Mary Fujii or Birtukan at the table on Sundays.
