Sun., Feb. 19, 10 am, Sanctuary
Molly’s dear friend and UCC Daily Devotional writer Kaji Douša will be in our pulpit on Sun., Feb. 19! She’ll join us afterward for a Learning Hour related to her work consulting with Planned Parenthood on issues of national importance regarding a progressive theology of reproductive rights.
Pastor Kaji serves as Senior Pastor of the Park Avenue Christian Church in New York
City. Pastor Kaji’s advocacy expertise helps to build the public and policy imaginary beyond
intractable discourse. Her clear moral leadership brings her to a number of venues – from the
pulpit to news broadcasts, editorial pages and policy rooms. For her ministry on the US
border with Mexico, Pastor Kaji was targeted and surveilled by ICE and CBP, the subject of
her lawsuit Douša v. DHS.
A native of Washington, DC, she is the daughter of A.B. Spellman: a poet, music critic, and
former Deputy-Chair of the National Endowment for the Arts, and Karen Edmonds Spellman:
former head of research and communications for the Student Nonviolent Coordinating
Committee (SNCC), producer of the National Council of Negro Women’s Black Family
Reunion, creator and producer of the Taste of DC, and leader of the SNCC Legacy Project.
